Ladbrokes will be a familiar name to most of you. Those who have downloaded their casino prior to May 2005 however may be interested to know that they have re-launched a new version on the Microgaming Viper platform featuring a more corporate feel but also one or two new features. Most notably this means it will now run "windowed" rather than full screen and the games interface has been improved, bringing it into line with other MG casinos. Being Viper of course, this also means a whole load more games while retaining the "Expert Mode" which gives you Auto-Hold and Auto-Play functionality. For newbies, particularly those into Video Poker, the new platform offers more games than you can shake a stick at and plays the optimum strategy for you (optional of course).

There is however one major plus you get at Ladbrokes and virtually nowhere else: totally instant withdrawals! While you are limited to using cards, Paypal, NETeller or Western Union at this stage, when I deposited via NETeller and withdrew some winnings, I had it back in our NETeller account in under 30 seconds. Similarly, withdrawing to my debit card, the money hit my (UK) bank account overnight on the following day. Coupled with the trustworthy brand name, this will be a hard act for any casino to beat.

The game ramge is huge: various Blackjacks, several variants of Video Poker including Joker Poker, Aces & Faces, Deuces Wil and Double Bonus among others, and the best slots in the business (Thunderstruck, What On Earth and Tomb Raider alongside some truely massive progressive jackpot slots being the picks) are just some of the 150 odd games available (as we write). The choice is growing every month with the addition of new games and new variants of old games. Whether your forte is Roulette, Keno, Slots or Poker, it'll pretty much be here in some form somewhere.

Where Ladbrokes falls down a bit (although it does show recent signs of improvement) is in customer support. While you rarely need it thanks to their choice of software, it can take 24 hours to illicit a response. Were they to tidy this up into 1 hour response, and add a VIP loylaty program which is also missing, they'd have it taped. Worth noting also is that their banking system is proprietary and integrated into their sportsbook side. While this is the reason they can automate fast payouts (see above), it can also be a tad confusing, but it's worth noting that the Ladbrokes casino accepts PayPal!

For example, when you withdraw winnings, it withdraws to your Ladbrokes Sportsbook account which is effectively the same as your casino account (same user, same password and set up transparently when you register at the casino). This means you then have to do a second stage withdrawal to process the payment, else it stays in limbo for you to bet with. Thankfully this is still all done via the casino software. Additionally, if you want to change the deposit option from a card to NETeller for example, you have to logon via the Ladbrokes website to change it. Also note, that you can only withdraw to the same method you deposited with (laws regulating money laundering).

Overall, if you'd have asked me a year ago what i thought about Ladbrokes, I'd have probably um-ed and ah-ed a bit over the interface and their attitude towards players. Today, i would have no hesitation in putting it in my Top 3 online casinos.
